    In Common Sense, the colonies as per Thomas Paine should say publicly their independence from the people of Britain. Paine disputes for the independence of America.

    He was able to distinguish the difference between the government and the society. For him, the society is where people join together to accomplished a common goal while for the government, he states that, the sole objective of the government is protecting us from our subordinate.
