French stressed on colonization, commercial ventures never attracted large numbers of colonists, more dependent on the Indians as trading partners and military allies, allowed the Native Americans greater freedoms than the English

    - Spain had a colonial government headed by lawyers and bureaucrats; had an upper class that had a say in political views and laws and a lower class that were forced to be laborers.

The political system of Spain was somewhat like the feudal system. Conquistadors would become local nobles and control the people in the land and make them work for them. They had slaves and others had to listen to them or suffer. Their economy was based around gold and silver and similar resources that could be sent to Europe.

France was more liberal and often cooperated with native Americans without conquering them. They formed colonies and kept governing them independently of the Native Americans in the area. Their economic system was mostly based around hunting since they were famous for hunting and getting things like fur to Europe.
