They had to travel about 900 miles.

The Native Americans were moved from their lands, which are now the states of Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi and Iowa. Eleven tribes were relocated to what is now the state of Oklahoma. The path was long and treacherous and many people lost their lives.
