Why did tensions develop between Mexico and American settlers in Texas? How did these tensions lead to violent conflict?

It causes the Mexicans to become angry towards the American settlers because they thought that Texas was still part of Mexico while the US thought Mexico was part of the United States, thus resulting in confluct between Mexico and Texas.
