This was the era of true lennon and mccartney collaboration and from me to you was composed on February 29 between shows in york and shresbury on their first national tour. The recording session was already booked and both songs which eventually made up their third single betrayed signs of having been written to order. From me to you was perfectly commercial for the time even a little simplistic although not as banal as it might have been had the group persisted with their idea of opening the record with the kind of childish falsetto harmonies normally reserved for period helen shapiro singles.
