Why did elcano order his men to burn one of the ships?

    After Magellan was killed in the Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, the new captain and 27 sailors were captured and killed. Three remaining ships escaped but there were not enough men to man the three ships so the Concepcion was burned down.
