The French and Indian War led the British to demand more from the colonists because the British blamed the colonists for the war. Had the colonists remained out of French lands and not fought with the Indians in the area then the entire thing could have been avoided. The British will demand that the colonists pay for the war. They will do this by enforcing various acts, laws and taxes, to force the colonists to pay for the war expenses. They kept a more watchful eye on the various legislative bodies that had been independently making decisions. There had been a practice of "salutary neglect" prior to the war. This will end as the British blame the various colonial governments of not keeping order in their respective areas.
