The Declaratory Act gave Great Britain, and more specifically Parliament, the right to create any laws, taxes, or other rules for the colonists without anyone's approval. This act was made in hopes to calm colonists about the stamp act, but had just the opposite result. It was one of the many pieces that led to the Revolutionary War.
