Why did the London Company send settlers to Virginia

    This was done to establish trading posts. If they had their own series of trading posts then they could have the monopoly over trading. That's how colonization began and later Jamestown was formed, establishing the Chesapeake area. Later the pilgrims came too and established Plymouth.
