What was the effect of the unpopular taxes levied by the British on the American colonists?

    At first, the tax made the American people felt really agitated because they think they're being exploited.

    Later on, they feel pent up and merchants started to form coalition with one another in order to boycott British' products from entering the country (they even physically threw out british' goods to the ocean when it arrived at ports)
