Identify one short-term and one long-term effect of the Manhattan Project on the state of New Mexico. Tell why each of these effects was important in the development of the state's cities and economy.

    The Manhattan project was the event that lead to the first atomic bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Manhattan project took a test run known as "trinity" in New Mexico This was one of the biggest events throughout the Second World War and lead into the Cold War against Russia. Throughout the Cold War, the arms race began causing a massive advance in nuclear power and technology. Furthermore, a long term effect that the Manhattan project caused was for America and Russia to become two major powers and a huge threat around the world. A short term effect was that America dropped two atomic bombs over Japan ultimately detonating their economic state.
