I will just talk about the Industrial Revolution, where people started to flock into urban areas and established real industrial cities. The social conditions at this time were particularly harsh, as the wealthy and business owners tried to maximize profits by low wages and long working hours as possible. Child labor was very common, and people live in crowded tenements. Early reformists tried to address the problem through articles and literature to focus public attention to these problems, some of these works include Oliver Swift.
