    The three steps of the Anacoda plan

    Step 1. In 1861, the union navy launched its blockade of southern ports

    In step 2; that was Early in 1862, the union forces moved to divide the Confrederacy by gaining control of the Mississippi River.

    Step 3. In 1862, the union General Geroge McCllan sent 100,000 men by ship to capture Richmond.
