How does bossuet's argument for absolute royal authority lead also to the need for a single uniform religion in france

    During this time, royal authority was largely derived from the mandate of the Church. In order for absolute authority to be established, the royal rulers needed to be accepted by everyone as mandated by God to rule. If people were of different religions, establishing this mandate would be impossible.
