British India was divided into Muslim majority Pakistan and Hindu majority India.

it rendered several people who were in these countries and belonged to the rival nations to be rendered aliens, and they had to leave and go back to those countries where they were a majority. Muslims left India while Hindus left Pakistan causing a great deal of population explosions in the towns they settled in.
