How did the literature of Plato and Aristotle's contribute to the development of Western political thought

Plato and Aristotle were ancient Greek philosophers who have influenced modern societies a lot. This is because they both wrote political and philosophical works of art which presented their ideas about what democracy truly is and how a state should be run. Even today's politicians and modern philosophers agree with a lot of their ideas which is why everything around us today is influenced by their thoughts.
