What happened when the Vikings arrived in East Anglia? They were defeated by the local lords. They raided and stole from people across the region. The king used his vassals to raise a large army. They negotiated with the lords to find a peaceful settlement.

    I believe the correct answer is that they raided and stole from people across the region.

    When they came to East Anglia in 865, they wanted to conquer the region so they started pillaging the area. Only 4 years later did king Edmund raise an army to fight off the Danes, but was ultimately unsuccessful. The Danes won and conquered the area and certainly did not want a peaceful settlement.
