In the court case, Cherokee Nation v. Georgia the Supreme Court declined to hear the case regarding the infringement of Cherokee peoples right's, as a result, the state of Georgia was able to maintain is state laws that limited the rights of Cherokee on their own lands. However, a later Supreme Court Ruling in a different case one year later, Worcester v. Georgia, saw the rights of the Cherokee as a sovereign entity restored, stopping the state of Georgia from enforcing any laws within the territory.
