Since 1974 the northen portion of the island of Cyprus has been under the control of Turkey. This occupation is not recognized internationally and Cyprus is considered a single country. But the fact remains that the northern third is clearly under Turkish control, using the Turkish coin instead of the Euro, and have Turkey as their sole trade partner.
