    Eisenhower--support of the anti-Communist leader Ngo Dinh Diem, created Southeast Asia Trade Organization, sent military advisers to the South.

    JFK--continued Eisenhower policy by supporting Diem and the South, increased military spending and supplies to the South, approved the coup of Diem when it is revealed he is suppressing Buddhists in the country.

    LBJ--Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, sent troops into Vietnam, began the draft in 1968

    Nixon--Peace with Honor (gradual withdrawal of troops), escalated war activity against Laos and Cambodia with air strikes, signs peace treaty for US to leave war to the South Vietnamese.

    Ford--cut funding to South Vietnam, South falls to the North under Ford.
