Long’s plans were very radical in the sense that he expected everybody in the American society to allow their wealth to be restructured and shared equitably.

Long’s idea did not come to fruition as they were controversial and did not gain support among the senate, therefore he offered to work with opposition to the democrats. However, they led to the second new deal, which had aspects of Longs principles. This guided the social welfare; therefore, some of long’s ideas came into reality.

Long based his ideas on the biblical laws. These were God’s laws of sharing and making sure that the society was equal

Long speech was contentious and it gained many critics. This can be attributed the factor that most of the rich whom he sought to reduce their wealth were the same people who were supposed to approve the ideas.

Long predicted that if at all his ideas were not inculcated into the society, then the existing system would destroy American society.
