    He invaded Abyssinia to show that he was a powerful nation that could defeat other nations as he wanted to restore the Roman Empire. Also, he considered the Mediterranean as Italy's sea but was annoyed at the British strong presence there such as in the Suez Canal. Also he resisted the Nazi invasion of Austria but supported their military support for Franco in Spain.
