How did austronesian migrations differ from other early patterns of human movement?

    They were different because they were not done by land. People migrated between islands and using primitive ships and vessels. They split across the entire planet and weren't just moving continentally and civilizing river valleys. This resulted in numerous groups of people in Islands around the pacific for example.
