The Gentlemen's agreement between the United States and Japan holds that Japan would greatly reduce the number of passport it issued for emigrants into America, while American will rescind an order which segregate Japanese children from white children in American public schools.

This agreement was made in 1907 and the American requested from Japan that it should give emigrant passport to only those Japanese who fall in the categories of business and professional men.
