Colonial leaders forced provincial congress to govern Massachusetts because Patriots’ objected to Great Britain’s naming General Thomas Gage as the governor. Colony of Massachsetts was governed by a royal charter. King of England was granted the land of the colony which was governed according to English law.

The founder and leader of Massachusets colony were called John Winthrop. Massachusetts Bay is where Massachusetts was founded in the year 1630. Ann Hutchinson and Roger Williams were banished from Massachusetts because of religious reasons.
