God is not given any recognition just because you read the Bible. God is given recognition when you believe that Jesus is the Christ and he died for your salvation. The Bible teaches us the faith which we already believe. What I mean is this, the Holy Spirit works faith in you and you believe. But, you have a very basic faith - faith in Christ. The Bible is God's word that tells us why we need Jesus, who Jesus is, what Jesus did, and that Jesus will return. Thus, the Bible educates our faith. It also strengthens our faith through the Holy Spirit. So, short answer - just reading the Bible does nothing. Believing and reading the Bible does everything.
