After slavery ended there was still conflict between the two races. Something known as the Jim Crow act was set in place. This is where colored people were still allowed to do the same things as whites but not their conditions of living were not as great. Segregation between the two was still present, and places such as the facilities, the bus even water fountains had segregation laws.
