    The Mocama province

    The Mocama Province was faced by a number of challenges that led to a sharp decline in its population. It was first plagued by a an infectious disease. In addition, there were series of war between the Spanish colonialists and the English crown forces in the North. Remnant refugees from the province were resettled at st. Augustine.
