The totalitarian leader of nazi germany during World War II was Adolph Hitler. Hitler was an Austrian who dreamed of being a painter as a young man but who became traumatized after serving in the first World War. As he became increasingly unhinged, he came to blame to jews for all the ills of the world. After publishing his manifesto, Mein Kampf, Hitler gained a following and quickly rose to become Chancellor of Germany. From this position he was able to declare an emergency and secure for himself absolute power as the Fuhrer.
