St. Patrick's nickname in Ireland is St. Paddy.

The word has become so popular that people with the name Patrick are affectionately called Paddy.

St. Patrick was a 5th century British Christian missionary who came to Ireland to spread the word of Gospel.

Originally he was taken to Ireland at the age of just 16. He escaped after 6 years and went back to England where he became a cleric.

He eventually traveled back to Ireland to spread Christianity and became a Bishop.

Today, he is the patron saint of Ireland. The 17th of March is observed as St. Patrick's day by Irish people all over the world.
