What prompted a rush of religious missionaries to oregon territory in the 1830s?

    Basically, two things facilitated the influx of missionaries to Oregon territories in 1830s. First reason was Hall Jackson Kelley and his "American Society for the Settlement of the Oregon Country" which increased the interest in this region, as it was hard to find the missionaries who were willing to travel there. And the second was their intent to convert the local indigenous population to Christianity.
