In what ways does the monroe doctrine address american desires to expand its territory?

Americans did not have a desire to support the Monroe doctrine. James Monroe and John Adams did create the doctrine to solve the crisis of foreign affairs. After creating the policy they sent a message to congress to be approved. England was the one to support the Monroe Doctrine.
