Why did the importation of enslaved africans increase dramatically in the late 1600s and early 1700s? explain how africans became the foundation of the economy of the southern colonies during this period?

    Slave trade increased as the America's were settled, as farmers needed more slave labor to work their farms. This was especially true in the South, as they did a large majority of the farm work, as well as made a good portion of the economy from slaves constantly being sold and traded.
