    The evidence found in the Declaration of Independence: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government,"

    The concept of natural rights and the notion of the social contract were supreme in the thinking of the colonists when they dared the right of Europe to control their economic and political lives. It's a contract, meaning it can be cancelled by the people when they believe the government is hindering their unalienable rights.
