When did the greeks begin to view outsiders as "barbarians"?

The Greek plural for barbarians, barbaroi, arose as a term to describe non Greek speaking peoples, as a pejorative. When they first began encountering foreigners in Mycanean Greece, so somewhere aroun the 16 to 12th century BCE.
