Proclamation of 1763 - this act forbade colonial settlement west of the Allegany Mountains. It was unsuccessful since settlers and land speculators such as George Washington vehemently opposed and made the government to cave in to their demands.

Sugar Act of 1764 - A tax on molasses aimed at raising revenue and restricting trade. It was unsuccessful. Colonists protested by boycotting British goods. Others smuggled their sugar to avoid the tax.
