Why were the framers of the constitution concerned about concentrating government power in one place?

    They understood how too much authority in the hands of one person can cause austere manipulation and governmental problems. The colonies had just won autonomy from such a system, and really, there were not many other kinds of government around at the time. They sought to try something different while avoiding some of the mistakes of other nations.
