Why was nullification considered a states' rights issue?

    To nullify is to discontinue or not allow a certain law to be in a certain state, meaning that the state has the right to choose if it would abide by that federal law or not.

    It was a state's rights issue because states couldn't do their own thing, they all had the exact same laws.
