    In Colonial Society was a society with a pyramid shape in which every person belonged to strictly defined class. The social life and contacts were all be with people from a similar social class. The highest class were people who were the most powerful and wealthy people in the colonies.

    Three ways colonial society differed from modern day society are:

    1. In the modern society there are no strictly defined classes.

    2. The most powerful people o ften owned slaves and employed servants. This is not the case in the modern society.

    3. Travel was difficult.
