Paine believed that the king has no jurisdiction over the United States because he exploits the people and involves them in his wars while they do all the work and he puts himself above the law. He proposes that because he believes that it should be a republican type of a country where the law and the courts rule, and not a country where a King can decide what he wants to do when he wants to do it.
