During the early 20th Century, before the rise of television, the average American read several newspapers per-day, and by mid 20th Century, most towns and cities had at least one newspaper. In the late 20th Century a lot of American journalism has been housed in large media chains. And, the 21st Century has reflected digital journalism, where newspapers have faced a business crisis as readers have turned out to internet sources.
