Why did john wilkes booth assassinate abraham lincoln answer?

    Well at first he just wanted to kidnap Lincoln for ransom, but after hearing his famous Gettysburg Address, he decided to kill him. His reasoning was basically he didn't want black people to gain rights in the south, and that was his only option to stop that (which obviously did not work)
