What was the name given to the allied plan to invade France

    It was called Operation Overlord and it was led by Dwight Eisenhower. It was composed of troops from America, Britain, Canada and Free-French forces. The codename given for the amphibious landing was called D-Day where they assaulted the beachheads that was guarded by the Germans.
