    Settler Colony:gave nations a more secure foot hold in overseas territories and people intended to set up permanent residence.

    Plantation Colony:produced one or more cash crops, often using enslaved workers, found in warmer climates

    Trading Post Colony; Has fewer settlements, outpost for trade.
