    Fur trappers and missionaries came to New France but the colony failed to attract many settlers because of the harsh climate.

    That area was really bad for agricultural business due to the bad soil condition. This becomes a deal breaker for potential settlers because agricultural sectors was the most profitable sectors that exist during that timel.
