    The first Americans to make a public protest against slavery were the Mennonites of germantown, Pennsylvania. soon after that, Quakers in the same town wrote a condemnation of the practice of slavery and sent it to governing bodies of the Quaker church. their first protest was in 1711, and within a few decades slavery was under attack.
