The main enlightenment idea that influenced the founding fathers was natural rights. John Locke was a strong proponent of the idea that every man, woman, and child is gifted with certain unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And of course we all know where that fits into the Declaration Of Independence.
