    Answer: Hausa states. From Zaria, a Hausa kingdom (modern Nigeria) about 1588 CE. Her mother, Queen Bakwa Turunku, built the state of Zazzau (Zaria), Amina was the more militaristic daughter and fortified the city. She also ld armies for 34 years and accumulated great wealth. It is unclear whether she ever ruled directly or inherited after her brother, Karama, died.
