    The second part is true. It was built by the Shona ethnicity, which is still predominantly the biggest one in modern Zimbabwe with over 80% of the population belonging to the Shona ethnic group. It traded gold and exotic goods with people who were willing to trade with them, mostly with the people who lived at the coasts of Africa.
