This controversial event in Chicago 1886 resulted in 7 police and 4 protests fatalities as well greatly discrediting the union movement

The event being described is known as the Haymarket Square Riots. The reason why this event greatly discredited the union movement was because a person that was part of this movement supposedly threw a bomb at police during this event. Ultimately, eight of the activists were connected to this bombing and were convicted.
